How to Calculate GPA in IOBM?

You need the following details for each course you took during a semester to calculate your GPA for that semester:

Credit Hours: The total number of credits the course has been given. Usually, the syllabus or schedule for the course includes this information.

Letter grade: The letter grade you have been assigned in each course or the grade points that correspond to that letter grade according to the grading policy followed by your university.

To find the GPA for the semester, divide the Total Grade Points by the Total Credit Hours.

GPA = Total Grade Points / Total Credit Hours

Example:

Course 1: A (3 credits)

Course 2: B+ (4 credits)

 Course 3: A- (3 credits)

The corresponding grade points would be:

Course 1: 3.89 (A) * 3 credits = 11.67 grade points

Course 2: 3.67 (B+) * 4 credits = 14.68 grade points

Course 3: 3.78 (A-) * 3 credits = 11.34 grade points

Calculate Total Grade Points and Credit Hours: Now add all the course grade points and credit hours.

Total Grade Points = 11.67 + 14.68 + 11.34 = 37.69

Total Credit Hours = 3 + 4 + 3 = 10

Calculate GPA: Divide the total grade points by the total credit hours to get GPA.

GPA = Total Grade Points / Total Credit Hours

GPA = 37.69 / 10 = 3.77

So, in this example, GPA for the semester or academic program would be 3.77.

Repeat these steps for each semester or academic year to calculate the GPA for different periods.
