University of South Alabama Grading Scale
At the University of South Alabama, final grades are available through PAWS at the end of each term. As an undergraduate, you’ll receive midterm grades that reflect your attendance, participation, and academic progress.
These grades are just feedback and will only show up on your transcript if they become your final grade if you withdraw from the course. Graduate students get similar feedback, with the option of letter grades.
The grading scale is pretty straightforward: an “A” earns 4 points per semester hour, a “B” earns 3, and a “C” is satisfactory for undergraduates, though it’s considered marginal for graduate students, earning 2 points. A “D” is the minimum passing grade for undergraduates, worth 1 point. An “F” means failure and carries no points.
There are also non-letter grades, such as “I” for incomplete work and “P” for courses still in progress.
